Campout in Tofino August 2016

This post is only 2 years late. But better late than never right? Tofino is one of Andrew's favourite places. He would want to move us all there if he could. But for now, it's an awesome place to visit. It is about a 4.5 hr drive from Victoria, so we didn't get there till later at night. We couldn't find a place to camp as all the sites were full at every campsite we went to. So Andrew had the idea to drive down a logging type road and camp in the bush there. I wasn't totally on board, but I didn't see many other options and it was past 11pm and I was really tired! So we pulled over and set up our pop up Vivint tent. I packed in all the blankets and foamy and we all got comfy. Just as we were about to doze off, we heard a vehicle pull up, and a bright flash light followed with a voice..." Sorry you are not allowed to camp here." We tried to pull on the heartstrings of the officer by saying we had two small children and couldn't find a campsite anywhere else, and they just fell asleep, which one of them had. However, he kindly did not budge. We had to move! So we packed up, and I maintained a good attitude which I was proud of because in the past I would be pretty ticked;) Shortly after, we found one site at a small camp spot off the highway! Yay! Thank goodness for our pop up tent...thank you Vivint!! We set up quick and went to sleep! Morning came in all it's glory and we made some dino oatmeal. Loving the bedhead hey?! hahaha
After breakfast, we packed up and took off. I actually don't think we paid anything since we came so late and left early..opps! We went into Tofino and of course one of our first stops was the skatepark. Jayna was super stoked to ride her strider there. She is pretty gutsy to try new things, and to ride down the skate slopes! That helmet tho;) I love Julian lying down watching Jayna. So cute!
We headed to the beach later on and that was so fun for all. Daddy helped Jayna get her wetsuit on....
We all had a wetsuit but little Jugee. He was content playing in the sand and exploring though:) He is just so handsome, maybe I'm biased, but his eyes and hair, and just his little face. I could stare at him all day! I just want to remember him at this age forever. So glad to have photos and video.
I got changed into my wetsuit too! Andrew bought it for me when we were in California one time pre children years. He was determined to buy me a nice wesuit and get me surfing! We rented a board and he took me out. The salt water hurt my eyes way too much, and we got crashed over in a wave and I was pulled under the water being dragged as I gripped my board. I wasn't biting at the bit to try surfing again. Much to Andrew's disappointment. But, now he is trying to train Jayna, so he has that dream left;) Julian thought it was pretty cool to see me in my wetsuit. I was glad I still could get it on two kids later:)
Jayna and Daddy went surfing together while I played with Julian. Then Jayna and I went out on the beater board! I had no idea what I was doing, but we had fun!!
Julian loved walking by the rocks and looking for sealife. The ocean and the beach are remarkable places.
Family photo!!
The beauty of the ocean, a bear or dog print...which one? And a cool tree. I could take photos of nature all day.
We all walked along the rocks to a more private section of beach, and a cool little area between rocks. Andrew and Jayna have a special bond. They get each other in a special way, and I'm so glad they share a bond like that. She is so lucky to have such a loving and involved Daddy. Gee, wish I had that. The little girl inside me cries a tear wishing I had that. But, myself aside, I am so glad our daughter will have that!! Julian is a stick carrier. I love how in all these photos, he almost always has a stick of some sort in his hands! haha
My surfer man. The lover of the waves. The love of my heart.
Checking out some ocean life on the rocks. So cool right?!
So glad we got this beater board when we were in California one year and we have had many good times with it! It's taken a beating, but it has never proved to be bored.
So long Tofino, until our next adventure.
