Sewing and Knits for my baby boy

For a few months before the birth of our baby boy, I was spending a ton of my time making things for him. It all started when I couldn't find my receiving blankets that I thought were in our storage locker. And instead of buying them I thought I would make some. So off to Fabric Land I went, and I got a bit carried away with fabric after two different visits, lol. But in the end I made some great blankets, and I had a lot of fun sewing. I had never made a blanket before, but after all of this, I realized I like sewing and it was really good to get so familiar with my sewing machine. Now I can work it so well. I made 6 receiving blankets and 3 burp clothes with left over fabric.
I loved how these flannel/minky blankets turned out, I use the turquoise one in his carseat all the time so far.
I made some flannel, and 100% cotton blankets...
This one I made for my sister in law's baby that was due one day after Julian. Jayna was helping me while I was sewing and then when I was done she fell in love with it and thought it was hers! I didn't want to take it away because she was so excited about it, so I ended up buying the same fabric again and making baby Klara one as well. haha
I decided to make some nursing pillow covers because the one I bought ( boppy nursing pillow ) didn't have soft comfy fabric. I found a free and easy tutorial online, and I made two covers! You only needed 2/3 a yard of fabric and this soft minky was on sale for $6.50 a meter. A steal if I do say so myself! This was my first project with a zipper and it didn't turn out totally perfect but I was still happy with them.
I cut the left over fabric into squares and sewed them together to make a pillow cover with snaps.
I really got into knitting last year, but hadn't really picked up my needles until recently to make Julian some newborn hats, here is one of them on.
And this blanket took me FOREVER!! I finished it JUST in time for his baby blessing day!
My sweet little boy is here, and now I get to use all the things I made for him! Happy Day.
