Jayna will be 5 weeks this Thursday! WOW! Last week, Andrew and I noticed on the same day that her legs were getting chubbier. Her fingers are too, along with her cheeks. Her eyes are bigger, and she has smiled at me several times now, which is so precious. Here she is passed out while I blog! See for yourself how she has grown.

The Storm that cancelled church.
I don't ever remember church being cancelled because the power was out! But on January 22nd it was! Because my husband is a surfer and obsessed with waves and the ocean, we drove down to Albert Head to check out how big they were. We had to risk our lives first by driving under a tree that was held up across the power lines, with one end on fire! The waves were huge and it was really cool to see! Andrew was stoked that I was just as excited as him about something he loves so much. It was a fun Sunday Activity.

My baby girl and me.

I have aspirations and hopes and dreams for Jayna Joy, like every Mother has for their children, like my Mom had for me. Above all, the most important thing I can give her is my love. My deep desire for her as her Mother is to share a close and very special relationship with her all her life. She is a precious Daughter of God, and I love her with all my heart.
Motherhood
I am still getting used to the idea that I am a Mom!! Up until delivery I was still in shock that I was pregnant! haha. Somehow though, now that Jayna is here in my arms, the reality has struck and my heart is full. I feel that delivery was a beautiful natural process, and so is Motherhood. I haven't felt super stressed or overwhelmed with being a new Mother. I am sure I will feel that way at times in the future, but for now I just feel content. I think it helps that we really wanted to start our family, Andrew and I had our fun times together for almost 4 years. I read a few really good books in preparation for Motherhood, which really helped. Knowledge is power. "If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear." We took an awesome birthing Class, and I have an amazing support system; Andrew, My Mom, brother, and other family members and friends close by. All these things combined have made being a new Mother a positive and happy experience, and for that I am very grateful!

Headbands for Jayna to last her lifetime!

I was in Lethbridge back in October checking out a baby store while Andrew was in a meeting for Vivint. I saw a really cute vintage headband and I almost bought it...but I just didn't want to spend the $13.99 on it. I felt determined after that to one day make my own flower headbands for my baby girl. I had planted the seed because in November, I randomly walked into Cloth Castle and walked out with a nice stash of elastic, fabric, and buttons. After watching some tutorials on youtube on how to make fabric, felt, and ribbon flowers, I was hooked! I made a couple trips to Michaels and back to Cloth Castle for more supplies. Almost every night I was making flowers for headbands! I was addicted! I even custom made some to match outfits I already had for Jayna. I had so much fun, and really enjoyed myself!

When I found out I was pregnant, I really really wanted to have a girl, but for some reason I thought I was having a boy. I prepared myself mentally to have a boy, but secretly wanted a girl. It was a really special moment when we went to UC Baby in Vancouver September 2nd, 2011 and the technician told us we were having a GIRL! I cried, I was surprised and sooo happy! For the next 4 months I dreamed of her and what she would be like, what she would look like?!? Now she is here, and the mystery of our baby girl is unfolding before our eyes. I am loving every day and minute, and so excited to watch her change and grow. She is 3 weeks old tomorrow morning, and she has changed a fair amount already. My Auntie Carol sent me a package for baby J, and in it were angel wings! I knew they would be used in a photoshoot of Jayna, after all...she is our little angel.
Jayna has had a lot of family come see her in her first 2 and a half weeks of life. I didn't get pictures of everyone, but here are some of the ones I have. She is going to have 2 Grandmas and 3 Grandpas, 9 Aunts, and 5 Uncles, and 9 cousins with 2 on the way. No shortage of love for this little one!!!
