Island adventures with our family of Three

On February 12th and 13th Andrew, Jayna, and I drove up island to Courtenay to visit family. On Monday, Marnie/Mark, Johnny/Hilary/their 2 kids, and our family of three went to Hornby Island for the day. It was so much fun! I had never been there, and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to in my life! No joke. I love living in BC, especially the Island. I am so grateful for Andrew's love for the Island. He is always wanting to explore places he hasn't been to yet, and taking me to places I haven't been to yet. It's amazing how many things I haven't seen for growing up here! But it's made for lots of good times and being older I especially appreciate the beauty! This blog will be a lengthy one because there are so many cool pictures I want to share! So....to start out we had to drive to catch a ferry to Denman Island...

That was a short ferry, then we caught another one to Hornby Island. During our wait, Andrew pulled out his fly rod and Johnny joined him for some brotherly bonding.

The first picture I took on Hornby was of the Community Hall...so trippy! Have you ever seen a building made out of wood like this!!??

Our first stop of the day was to the "Free Store". Yup, you heard that right...you walk in and leave with whatever you want, it's free! I thought this was one of the coolest things, and was stoked to see what it was like. The gate wasn't open cause it is only open 2 days a week in the winter...

So we walked up the trail instead cause Marnie assured us it would still be open...

This is the outside of the store...

And the inside...There were books gallore, trinkets, scarfs, baby stuff, clothing, bedding...

Tending to a hungry baby...since we carried her up in her carseat while she was sleeping, I didn't have any supplies with me, so I had to use a pillowcase as her burping cloth which got well used! lol Thank you "Free Store." Desperate times call for desperate measures, lol.

Need a bike?
Boys will be boys...

The bathroom is made of all recycled materials. I wasn't expecting it to be as cool as it was when I opened the door to the inside!! Talk about creative!

Our first time trip to the Free Store was a fun one, I think Marnie and Mark benefited the most from it judging by their duffle bag of stuff they left with! haha
To be continued when I have more time...

DAY 28...Money

This came to my mind for money...the cutest piggy bank ever! Jayna got it from her Baby Shower January 14th.

DAY 19...Something I hate to do

This was hard for me. I realized I may not like to do certain things, but I didn't hate doing them. Then I was driving with Jayna to my Mom's, and it reminded me that I hate driving in the dark! Only because you can only see directly infront of you, and anything could jump out at any moment, and you wouldn't see it until it's right there! It's scary, and most of the time I feel pretty uptight driving in the dark!

DAY 18...Drink

"That's a good drink"...and that's why it's gone!

Birthing Class Reunion

So Andrew and I took a Birthing Class back in November. It was really good, we had a cool black lady named Jay as our teacher and she was awesome. The class was over 2 Saturdays for the whole day. We really enjoyed it, and were glad we took the class because we learned so much. And now looking back it did really help us when labour came, especially in the knowledge department just knowing what was going on and what my options were. So on February 12th, all of us minus one couple got together with our babes for a little reunion. It was really great to see all the babies and talk about each of our experiences. One of the girls had to have an emergency C-Section, and then her baby was in the NICU for 5 days, (including Christmas Day), awww. Her baby is doing good now though. One girl had a horror story with delivering the placenta, she had 3 people reach inside to try and pull it out, and one doctor ripped a chunk off! She ended up being put under so they could get it out and lost 2 litres of blood! Talk about scary! One girl had like a 3 hour delivery. One girl had an epidural and morphine with a pretty short labor. And one girl had the longest labor of all of them, 29 hours ( that one was me. ) Here is a picture of us girls with our babies!
Here are the babies in order of when they were born...
First is: Isla
Olivia:
Walker: (the only boy)
Jayna:
Isabella:
A few group photos:
Jayna and Walker were sharing some love:

It was so fun to get together and to see Jayna with other babies, it was the first time she was awake and around little ones the same age. It's going to be neat to keep in touch and see how all our kids grow up!

Daddy and his Daughter

Andrew was excited to have a little girl, mostly because he had in his mind that if it's a girl, I'll take more care of her, and if we had a boy, he would. haha. Men! If only they had breasts that produced milk, then maybe we could share the load; boy or girl! lol. I knew however that he would just adore our baby girl once she was here, and they would have a special relationship. They do, and it will only continue to grow.

Some skin to skin bonding time with our newborn.

First little ride in her stroller, Daddy taking it to the limit already! Only Andrew.

Andrew would give Jayna her baths like this for the first few weeks. Wow she is so tiny!

All dolled up for church. I think she is 2.5 weeks old here.

January 21st, 2012. Jayna and Daddy in their Long John underwear!

Just over 3 weeks old.

Going for a stroll around our house, Andrew testing out the Ergo Carrier with Jayna for his first time.

Daddy and Daughter in January 2012

Trying to get a picture of their hands for a post in our photography challenge for February, Jayna gave the finger (by accident) all on her own! We were laughing so hard, it was pretty funny. Daddy gave her an extra hand for the last photo to keep her in check, oh my.

February 6th 2012. Jayna is almost 6 weeks old here. Andrew is 28.

The same face.

Daddy and Jayna dancing outside the gym at the Gold and Green Ball, Febraury 17th 2012.
Andrew has a thing about Jayna standing. He always tries to get her to stand, which she does! She has some strong legs already.
Down she goes!
THE END!
