Jayna Joy Forin enters the world
The day finally arrived! 9 days earlier than the predicted due date on Jan 7th, Jayna was born at 6:32am Thursday, December 29th, 2011. She weighed 8 lbs, half an ounce, 21 inches long. For all the mothers out there who know, it is hard to put into words the experience of giving birth. It is similar, but different for everyone, each situation is unique in it's own way. All I knew was that there would be a lot of pain. What kind of pain exactly I did not know. Growing up I was terrified of giving birth, it made me wince and want to cry whenever someone would talk about it!! Surprisingly though, I was braver and more calm that I thought I would be. I kind of went into another world, especially in the last 5 hours or so which was the most intense, my eyes were closed and I had this low ouuuing that I did none stop through the contractions. In preparation for delivery, I was open to anything, and didn't have any set plans, cause I know anything can happen. I wasn't against having an epidural, but surprisingly I never wanted one when I was in labour. I had to have an IV to receive anti biotics, and that grossed me out enough for the needle part, ( I almost fainted.) At times throughout labour, I asked if I could have something for the pain, but never specified or was adamant about it, so my midwife, mom, and Andrew just encouraged me to get through the contraction I was having at the time. Everything did go smoothly enough, but it was long. Jayna's neck was tilted so I was more dilated on one side than the other so for the last 10 hours of labour I was doing lots of lunges, and squats, and climbing stairs, and even plea's to try and straighten her neck and head. Right to the very end I was doing lunges, talk about exercise! A good thing I never got an epidural because I was on my feet to the very end! There is a very good chance if I got the epidural that I would have had a C-Section because her head was tilted and without all that work I had to do to straighten it out, I don't think it would have done that on it's own. So in the end, my whole experience, water breaking first, 19 hours of early labour, but still pretty intense at times, 9+ hours of active labour and about 40 minutes of pushing, a total of 30 hours start to finish...our beautiful baby girl was born!! It was an incredible, amazing experience, one that I will not be able to ever forget! Andrew was so supportive, and was with me through almost every single contraction supporting me and encouraging me, it was a huge bonding experience for us and I will forever be!grateful for the birth of our baby girl! I love you sooo much Jayna Joy!!
